Women in Cycling Germany in Kassel: Breaking Barriers, Riding Forward

© Simeon Uhl

On 17 January, our second major Women in Cycling Germany annual meeting took place in Kassel, organized by the Department of Cycling and Local Mobility at the University of Kassel and the team led by Prof. Dr. Angela Francke. Over 70 participants from the entire cycling industry - from local authorities, science, the bicycle industry to associations and politics - came together to develop the vision, direction and mission statement of our network in workshops. The evening before, around 40 women and a few men had already met at the specialist area to get to know each other and get in the mood for the annual meeting by trying out the bike simulator and taking part in some bike challenges.

Our mission: to make
women more visible in the cycling world, break down barriers and integrate gender-specific perspectives into research, planning and product development.
