Professor Carsten Sommer supports the Hannover Region on its path to climate neutrality

As part of an exploratory hearing at the so-called "Climate Wise Council", Professor Carsten Sommer was invited as an expert to give his assessment of the Hannover Region's Transport Development Plan Action Program Transport Turnaround (VEP 2035+). The main focus was on the effectiveness of the measures defined in the VEP and the question of whether and how these measures can be implemented within the planned timeframe. The Hannover Region aims to become climate-neutral by 2035. As the transport sector is a major CO2 emitter, as in many municipalities, an integrated concept was developed with the VEP 2035+ to achieve this goal.

The Climate Wise Council of the Hannover Region is an interdisciplinary body that provides impetus to the politics and administration of the Hannover Region on climate-relevant issues and critically scrutinizes current measures.
