The department has set itself the goal of researching and optimizing nano- and microstructures of inorganic-mineral materials in the construction industry in order to improve the practical behavior of these materials under the respective conditions of use.
In the field of teaching, students of civil and environmental engineering are taught systematic knowledge of the scientific and technical fundamentals of materials as well as the production, properties and practical applications of inorganic and organic building materials in undergraduate and graduate studies.
