Thesis Topics

In basic physics research, subatomic particles (photons, electrons, ions) are detected by single-particle detectors. For very weak effects, the actual signal is often only weakly distinguishable from the noise of the detectors. The goal of this project is to effectively separate real particle detection and detector noise using AI techniques. This will allow for higher sensitivity, which could subsequently enable the discovery and characterization of new physical mechanisms.
