The task of the DFG review boards is to provide centralized support for the optimal distribution of the available financial resources. To this end, the projects submitted for funding are reviewed by experts and evaluated according to numerous criteria. The most promising and future-oriented proposals are identified and funded in a complex system. In addition, the review boards are important contacts when it comes to the further development of funding programs or other funding policy issues.

Prof. Niendorf represents the subject of "Materials in sintering processes and additive manufacturing processes" on the committee. He has headed the Department of Metallic Materials at the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Kassel since 2015. His focus here is on researching the microstructure-property relationship of metallic materials that have been processed using additive manufacturing processes, among other things.
