CLIMSAVE
Climate change integrated assessment methodology for cross-sectoral adaptation and vulnerability in Europe
Target
CLIMSAVE is an EU-FP7 project developing a user-friendly, interactive web-based tool that will allow stakeholders to assess climate change impacts and vulnerabilities for a range of sectors, including agriculture, forests, biodiversity, coasts, water resources and urban development. The linking of simplified models, or so called meta-models, for the different sectors will enable stakeholders to see how their interactions could affect European landscapes. CESR contributes to this tool by developing a meta-model, based on the response surface approach, that allows rapid reproduction of climate change impacts on water resources as simulated by WaterGAP. The integrated assessment platform will also enable stakeholders to explore adaptation strategies for reducing climate change vulnerability, discovering where, when and under what circumstances such actions may help. It will highlight the cost-effectiveness and cross-sectoral benefits as well as conflicts of different adaptation options and enable uncertainties to be investigated to better inform the development of robust policy responses. A series of workshops will indentify stakeholder needs and test an innovative methodology for participatory scenario development specifically geared towards interactive climate change impact and adaptation assessment.
