Fresh from the press: the new article by Johannes König on the costs and rewards of a habilitation

The article systematically analyses the career paths of academics who have habilitated in Germany and compares them with those of people who have not completed a further degree after their doctorate.

Johannes Koenig's analysis shows that an additional qualification after the doctorate is in most cases associated with considerable financial expenditure and that the benefits are primarily non-monetary.
The quantitative analysis is based on the IIPED dataset (IAB INCHER Panel on Earned Doctorates).
