Why a VPN connection?

Various university IT services such as network drives, campus licenses or internal websites are restricted to the physical university network.

The VPN also allows you to access these IT services from outside the university (at home or on the move).

A VPN connection (Virtual Private Network) establishes a secure connection between your computer and the private network of the University of Kassel.

The profile is a split-tunnel profile, i.e. when you are connected to the VPN, all websites of the University of Kassel domain (.uni-kassel.de) are redirected to the university IP address. The remaining traffic continues to go via the provider address.

The Cisco Secure Client is required to operate the VPN connection. You can find the Cisco Secure Client for your system as well as information on installation and setup under Instructions.

For VPN use, it is important that you do not switch off the certificate verification of your device.
