MecaNano General Meeting 2023
The first General Meeting of the European network MecaNano, chaired by Prof. Benoit Merle, took place April 26-27, 2023 at IMDEA Materiales in Madrid. This first gathering was well attended, with ca. 80 participants from 24 countries, most of them not previously knowing each other. The General Meeting provided them with unique opportunities to exchange about their research and plan common activities in the field of nanomechanical testing. The vibrant atmosphere and pleasant climate of Madrid provided a good opportunity to continue networking throughout the evening.
“It was wonderful to have so many leading researchers and research institutions in the field of nano-scale materials characterization and testing under one roof,” said IMDEA Materials Institute Deputy Director, Prof. Jon Molina.
The “European Network for the Mechanics of Matter at the Nano-Scale” (MecaNano), chaired by Prof. Benoit Merle, is a European Cooperation in Science & Technology (COST) Action funded under Horizon Europe (2022-2026). MecaNano is intended as a broad international cooperation aiming to advance the multiscale understanding of the mechanical behavior of nanostructured materials.
