New group member - Dr. Abba

Mohammed Tahir Abba graduated from Drexel University in the USA in 2009 with a combined BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to pursue a PhD at Georgia Institute of Technology in USA in Mechanical Engineering with a focus of developing protocols for spherical nanoindentation of viscoelastic materials. He obtained his doctorate degree (PhD) in 2015 (advisor: Prof. Surya Kalidindi). After spending a few years working for Akotex Nig Ltd as an engineer, he joined the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Nigeria as a Senior Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department. While at AFIT he was the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. In April 2023, he joined the University of Kassel as a PostDoc Researcher in the Institute of Materials Engineering under the Mechanical Behavior of Materials Group headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Benoit Merle. He will be working on the ERC NanoHighSpeed project.
