MecaNano Summer School on Experimental Micro- and Nanomechanics
The first Summer School of the European Network MecaNano on "Micro- and Nanomechanics" was held July 24-28, 2023 at the University Roma Tre in Rome, with Profs. Marco Sebastiani, Christoph Kirchlechner and Benoit Merle as organizers.
This school proved very popular, and was even overbooked long before the registration deadline. In the end, approximately 70 PhD students and postdocs from all over Europe came to Rome and got to interact with 12 worldwide leading experts in the field.
The close interactions with them were widely praised, e.g. during the timeslot scheduled for mentoring. In addition, the Summer School offered the PhD students a first opportunity to network with each other.
Besides Prof. B. Merle, the Chair was represented by Dr. M.T. Abba and M.Sc. M. Stoll.
The “European Network for the Mechanics of Matter at the Nano-Scale” (MecaNano), chaired by Prof. Benoit Merle, is a European Cooperation in Science & Technology (COST) Action funded under Horizon Europe (2022-2026). MecaNano is intended as a broad international cooperation aiming to advance the multiscale understanding of the mechanical behavior of nanostructured materials.
