Marie Pohl took over the professorship for Illustration/Comic at the School of Art and Design in Kassel on April 1. As an artist, she works under the name Marijpol at the interface of comics, illustration and design. After studying visual communication at the HFBK Hamburg and the HAW Hamburg, she worked as a lecturer at various universities, including the HAW Hamburg, the Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel, the Bauhaus University Weimar and the HfG Karlsruhe.

Her graphic novel Hort (Edition Moderne, 2022) was included in the Official Selection of the Angoulême Comic Festival in 2025. Her work has been shown at the Centre Pompidou, the Kunsthaus Göttingen and the Fumetto Festival Lucerne, among others.

Her visual worlds move between analog drawing and digital collage. One focus is on the reflection of body images, gender roles and the development of visual narrative formats - in books, in space and in digital contexts. With her professorship, she would like to further develop the class for comics and illustration as a space for experimental and socially reflective visual practice.
