Key competencies-oriented Service Learning
What is SchlüsSL-Interkulturell?
At the Universität Kassel, you can combine volunteering for a good cause and earning study credits by participating in a key competencies-oriented Service Learning-seminar, the so-called „SchlüsSL-Seminar“; since 2020, it is also offered as a intercultural version.
The SchlüsSL-Interkulturell-seminar:
SchlüsSL is the German abbrevitation for "Schlüsselkompetenzorientiertes Service Learning", or key competencies-oriented Service Learning. The seminar is open to students from all departments, with up to 6 ECTS for additive key competencies. The course languages are English and German.
Seminar topics:
Project management, stakeholder-analysis, participatory methods, time management, communication and conflict management, team competence, intercultural competence etc.
Your volunteering project:
Develop ideas to overcome the isolation of international students during the pandemic and plan a project or campaign, either on your own or as part of a team. You have 60 hours during the semester for planning and implementing your project.
6 ECTS for additive key competencies:
- Attending the 7 seminar sessions + project coaching session
- Planning and implementing your volunteering project (60 hours)
- Presenting your project at the final session (in English or German, to be agreed on by the team)
- Writing a projct report (in English or German)
