Gitanxs, femme fatale and cigarettes - Seminar: "Carmen" in Kassel

Should the foreign term for Roma, Sinti and Gitanos, "bohèmes", be equated with "marginalized"? Why does the bullfighter Lucas, no, Escamillo become a soccer player in Kassel and does it need the discourse around stereotyping, sexualization and racialization in "Carmen"?
While rolling cigars in the dress rehearsal at the Staatstheater and marveling at the musicians, who sang and played so close that one was startled at some of the cues, the seminar debates were briefly in the background.
Nevertheless, a sample of the seminar's work will be on display at FB02's Diversity Week. More information will follow.
