Over 170 participants from 37 different nations attended the 12th International Conference of the Association for Language Awareness in Hamar, Norway, from July 1 to 4, 2014. For the first time, there were also participants from Africa, which speaks for the increasing importance of the conference and its guiding theme Language Awareness. Thus, the papers covered a wide range of topics on the role of Language Awareness in language learning and teaching of different languages. Among the presenters were Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner and her team: Jennifer Schluer, Maria Skejic, and Saida Khodieva. In addition, Dr. Sylvia Fehling,  Akademische Oberrätin at the University of Bayreuth (formerly University of Kassel) was active at the conference with her contribution in the ABCs workshop.
During the conference, Prof. Dr. Claudia Finkbeiner was re-elected for the fifth time (since 2006) as President of the international Association for Language Awareness for another two years.

Svalberg, Leicester, England, and Prof. Dr. Andrea Young, Strasbourg, France. Prof. Dr. Banu Inan Karagul, Kocaeli, Turkey(www.languageawareness.org ; www.ostlendingen.no/video ) was newly elected.
