As part of the course "Art in the Context of Global Entanglements" led by Luisa Standop from the Department of Art & Society, the participants visited the exhibition "Revolutionary Romances? Global Art Histories in the GDR" in the Albertinum of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD), which uses its own holdings to show the GDR's relations with countries of the so-called Global South and thus looks at a chapter of art in the GDR as part of a global (socialist) art history that has hardly been researched to date.

In a guided tour by the curators Mathias Wagner and Michael Buhlig, the students learned about the GDR's intertwined histories with the so-called "brother countries" as well as about critical artistic interventions on the subject, which are also represented in the exhibition. They were also given an insight into the curatorial work and background information on the development of the exhibition.

On the following day, the students were taken on an exclusive #ostZone city tour of Dresden's old town by artist Janina Kracht on the subject of "Art in Architecture", organized by the Kultur Aktiv e.V. association. The students were given detailed insights into the public art of the GDR, which can still be found in the city today.
