Dr. Christian Toft's main academic interest is comparative policy field analysis with a particular focus on policy options and choices in social security and labor market policy and a geographical focus on Europe, the United States and China. His academic training and career have been classically interdisciplinary and international, spanning economics, political science, sociology, social welfare, and history, as well as multiple languages and study abroad. He received his PhD from the Faculty of Economics and Politics at Cambridge. Research and work visits have taken him to universities in Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Estonia, the United States, Canada, and China. He was also a Visiting Fellow at UNU-WIDER (United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research) in Helsinki, one of the world's leading research institutes on global political economy, inequality and poverty research.
