The cooperation between the Kurhessen Cassel Rowing Club (RKC) and the University of Kassel has been in place since 2016. This enables joint use of the jetty for both the athletes of the RKC and the approximately 200 athletes of the University of Kassel's university sports department. Due to the great interest and demand for the water sports offer, there were always bottlenecks at the jetty and the associated traffic jams when getting in and out of the boats.

Last Friday, the time had come and the extension to the jetty was inaugurated. With its length of 24 meters (previously it was twelve meters), it now offers enough space for water sports enthusiasts. The extension makes the facility even rarer, as Dr. Tobias Heyer (Head of General University Sports) is of the opinion that such a long jetty is not often seen in the region. Many thanks are also due to the "Friends of Kassel University Sports e.V." association, which generously supported the financing of the jetty.

After the forced break due to Corona, not only the RKC but also university sports are looking forward to making extensive use of the new jetty. In addition to rowing and kayaking, university sports are also planning to offer canoe touring and stand-up paddling.
