The aim of the research approach is the research and characterization of rectangular hollow profiles made of wound wood laminates with targeted technical reinforcements for the substitution of standard metal hollow profiles. The technical feasibility of the profile is to be worked out in a two-stage process. Here, a round (or angular profile with large curves) should first be wound from a veneer strip, which is then partially or completely reshaped in a second process step. As part of the project, the novel process is to be investigated in the discontinuous laboratory stage and tested for its competitiveness compared to other processes and material systems. In addition, in order to simplify the creation of variants later, methods are made available by means of digital design technology, which enable theoretical planning and interpretation of characteristics with regard to material combination and geometry.
