Infra-Tower
As part of one Studio, the "Infra Tower Hugenottenareal" was designed as part of Documenta 15 in the backyard of the Hugennottenhaus. The Infra Tower is a vertical wooden structure that symbolises the activities of the Kunstareal and is open to further thoughts, ideas and interventions. The 10 m high spatial structure towers above the billboard of the Kunstareal, drawing attention to it while serving as a support for further concepts. Due to its intelligent and minimal connection principle, it can be dismantled and reused in other locations.
The structural analysis of the tower was carried out with FE software and several iterations of the structure as well as the connection principle were made. The aim was to optimise the cross-section of the columns and the position of the diagonals for the critical wind loads and to minimise the load transfer and the design of the foundations.
The connection plates fix the bracing beams to the main columns at two end points. The plates were produced by 3axis milling, with the pocket cut-out corresponding to the specified angles of the bracing.
