Prospective students

Are you still at school, are you currently in training, are you attending a technical college or are you studying for your master's degree and know that you would like to become a vocational school teacher in the field of electrical engineering or metal technology? If so, you now have the opportunity to take your first courses at the University of Kassel while you are still in school/training.  

For this you must:

• have good grades,
• be supported in your plans by your teachers and the school administration,
• enjoy learning independently
• and have a high level of motivation and willingness to make an effort. 

You get:

• The opportunity to study at the university even before you have obtained your university entrance qualification,
• the possibility to already complete the first credits of your studies to become a vocational school teacher
• and personal support at the Institute for Vocational Education.

How does the early study program work?

In order to participate in the study program, you need a written confirmation from your school principal that you have a special talent. Your school administration allows you to attend courses at the university during school hours. This permission is granted for one semester at a time. We will be happy to support you at the Institute for Vocational Education in implementing this plan. For this purpose, we will determine your strengths in a counseling interview and create an individual schedule for your early studies. 

Requirements

In addition to the formal requirements,

• attendance of a school type that concludes with a general/specialized high school diploma or advanced technical college diploma, a master craftsman diploma or a technician diploma
• and a certificate from the school management confirming suitability for the early study program.

• organizational skills,
• ability to work under pressure,
• talent and pleasure in dealing with people,
• communication skills,
• ability to work in a team,

You have already completed a bachelor's degree in engineering (metal technology, electrical engineering)? You would like to use this knowledge and work as a teacher at vocational schools? Then the M.Ed. Vocational Education at the University of Kassel offers an excellent academic environment as well as the best conditions for an application-oriented study with a technical and pedagogical focus. The program qualifies students both for the teaching profession at vocational schools and for a career in extracurricular fields of activity in practice and research. 

The prerequisite for admission to the master's program in vocational education (with conditions) is a completed bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. The exact credits will be checked individually. The requirements for lateral entry into the M.Ed. Vocational Education comprise a maximum of 60 credits and are distributed among:

• The didactics of technology
• The educational science core course
• The teaching subject
