Prospective students

Are you still at school, currently in training, attending a technical college or doing your master craftsman's degree and know that you would like to become a vocational school teacher in the field of electrical engineering or metal technology? Then you now have the opportunity to take your first courses at the University of Kassel during your school/training period.

To do this, you must

• have good grades,
• be supported in your plans by your teachers and the school management,
• enjoy independent learning
• and be highly motivated and willing to make an effort.

You get:

• The opportunity to study at university even before you have obtained your university entrance qualification,
• the opportunity to complete the first credits of the vocational school teacher course,
• and personal support at the Institute for Vocational Education.

How does the early study program work?

To take part in the course, you need written confirmation from your school management that you are particularly gifted. Your school management will then allow you to attend courses at the university while you are at school. This permission is granted for one semester at a time. We at the Institute for Vocational Education and Training will be happy to support you in implementing this plan. We will determine your strengths in a consultation and create an individual timetable for your early studies.

Prerequisites

In addition to the formal requirements,

• attendance at a type of school that leads to a general/specialized higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, a master craftsman or a technician
• and a certificate of aptitude for early study from the school management

it is above all personal qualities such as

• Good mathematical/technical understanding,
• perseverance/ willingness to make an effort,
• organizational skills,
• ability to work under pressure,
• talent and enjoyment in dealing with people,
• communication skills,
• ability to work in a team,
• and flexibility,

which are important for a career as a teacher at vocational schools.

Then the M.Ed. in Vocational Education at the University of Kassel offers an excellent academic environment and the best conditions for an application-oriented degree with a technical and pedagogical focus. The course qualifies students for a teaching position at vocational schools as well as for a career in non-school fields of activity in practice and research.

The prerequisite for admission to the Master's degree course in Vocational Education (with conditions) is a completed Bachelor's degree course in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. The exact credits will be checked individually. The requirements for lateral entry to the M.Ed. in Vocational Education comprise a maximum of 60 credits and are divided between
