Feed² - Feedforward and feedback to increase study success and satisfaction

Internal research at our university has shown that the graduation rates in the degree programs of FB07 fall short of expectations. Similar results were also determined by the German Center for Research on Higher Education and Science for law, economics and social sciences throughout Germany. Therefore, the project "Feedforward and Feedback to Increase Student Success and Satisfaction" (Feed2) was launched. The project proposes three main measures to increase student success and satisfaction, which, when applied together, should result in an increase in graduation rates. These are the following subprojects:

Feedforward: informedness and expectations before and at the start of the study
FormFeed: Providing formative feedback in the learning process as an approach to improving student outcomes.

In the course of the project Feed2 the Chair of Information Systems and System Development is working on the subproject FormFeed. In order to provide students with continuous formative feedback, the learning tool Loom is used. Loom stands for Learning Objective and Outcome Manager. The tool is based on a cloud-based solution and provides regular feedback for students and lecturers. The feedback results from a computer-based performance assessment (CbA) and a peer review process (ITPF). The learning tool is used in four lectures at different chairs of the University of Kassel (see project participants). The use and effectiveness of Loom Uni is to be evaluated internally via a series of experiments in order to be able to finally measure the positive effects on study success and study satisfaction.
