Represented by Dr. Fabian Dankert, the newly established junior research group deals with various issues in the field of low-valent main group element chemistry with a focus on aluminum. New reactive molecules are to be synthesized through targeted aluminium transfer, which are to be used to activate small molecules. Small molecular building blocks such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and ammonia are important here. We mainly work preparatively in the field of inorganic molecular chemistry, but also use quantum chemical approaches. By closely linking theory and experiment, we hope to gain a deeper understanding of electronic structure, reaction pathways and cooperativity.
Cooperative effects are of particular importance here.
