Transformative mixed culture systems for One Health

Motivation

Due to climate change, the need for adapted, climate-resistant cultivation systems is becoming ever greater. The ecological intensification of agriculture, in particular through the integration of mixed crops into traditional cultivation systems, is one of the ways of meeting this challenge.

Aims and approach

The TRIO project will investigate the possibility of integrating deep-rooted crops into crop rotations. Herbs such as caraway, fennel and coriander are grown on the same fields as wheat. GNR is involved in two sub-projects:

  • A01 - WP3: Remote sensing of agronomically relevant traits
  • A02 - WP1: Drone-based assessment of water status at crop level
