Corporate power in the digital agri-food system

Digital technologies for food production, trade and consumption are currently transforming the global agri-food system. Proponents praise digitalization as a solution to the climate-damaging impacts of an industrialized agricultural system. However, many of the current technological developments and their regulation entrench the power of global agribusinesses and thus stand in the way of a more far-reaching transformation towards a sustainable agri-food system. This talk addresses the above dynamics, narratives, and challenges.
