Climate school Witzenhausen: For climate protection and democracy

Klimaschule Witzenhausen - A school where topics around climate protection, justice and democracy are taught.

This year, the Climate School will take place in Witzenhausen, because it is the 125th anniversary of the founding of the German Colonial School (DKS). Nowadays, the research and teaching location Witzenhausen is known nationwide for ecological agriculture. At the same time, the DKS is clearly part of a colonial tradition, in the context of which serious human rights crimes and interventions in ecosystems were committed. As a climate school, we have chosen this historically rich environment as a tangible learning site. In this way, we can explore how the past influences the present, but also how this can be addressed today in a responsible and forward-looking manner.
