Mission

We regard our university department as an internationally oriented and learning organization that is part of the Faculty of Organic Agricultural Sciences at the University of Kassel. We highly value human and scientific integrity in all our doing.  With our teaching, research and knowledge transfer we want to make a contribution to sustainable development, in particular to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The focus here is on responsible consumption and production of food (Goal No. 12). Our method choice derives from system thinking. In the department we understand food quality in various dimensions (e.g., sustainability, palatability) with a product and process perspective. We have an open dialogue with each other and with our partners, especially with regard to how we grasp contextual relationships together.
