Carolina Bueno ist Umweltingenieurin und absolvierte ihr Studium an der Päpstlichen Katholischen Universität von Campinas (Brasilien). Sie besitzt einen Masterabschluss in Materialwissenschaften von der Bundesuniversität von São Carlos (Universidade Federal de São Carlos, Brasilien), mit Schwerpunkt auf Nanotechnologie und Nanowissenschaften zur Entwicklung von Nanobiosensoren zur Überwachung der Umweltqualität im Agrarsektor. Ihre Promotion absolvierte sie in Umweltwissenschaften an der Staatlichen Universität von São Paulo (Universidade Estadual de São Paulo, Brasilien), wobei sie sich auf innovative Materialien aus landwirtschaftlichen Reststoffen – insbesondere Biokohle (Biochar) – und deren Auswirkungen auf die Bodenmikrobiota konzentrierte, darunter ligninolytische Pilze und pflanzenwachstumsfördernde Bakterien. Ihre Forschung untersuchte das Potenzial dieser Materialien zur Förderung einer nachhaltigen Landwirtschaft und der Biodiversität im Boden. Im Rahmen ihrer Promotion forschte Carolina auch an der Università degli Studi di Bari (UniBa, Italien) am Fachbereich für Agrar- und Umweltchemie. Dort sammelte sie praktische Erfahrungen im Umgang mit verschiedenen Biomassetypen und Biokohle, insbesondere in Bezug auf deren Wechselwirkungen mit Pilzen. Darüber hinaus erweiterte sie ihre internationale Forschungserfahrung an der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (GeoZentrum Nordbayern), wo sie sich mit der Dynamik stabiler Isotope in natürlichen Reservoiren befasste und so zu einem tieferen Verständnis biogeochemischer Prozesse in Umweltsystemen beitrug. In den letzten Jahren war Carolina in einem Unternehmensumfeld tätig, mit Schwerpunkten auf Business Transformation, Nachhaltigkeit, Forschung & Entwicklung sowie CO₂-Bilanzen im Bereich der Pflanzenwissenschaften.
