Dr. Alexander Wetzel took part in the fib symposium 2024 Reconstruct (resilient concrete structures) in Christchurch from November 11-13 and presented a paper on HPC and UHPC with reduced climate footprint based on alkali-activated material. The fib Symposium 2024 was dedicated to the further development of resilient concrete structures. Experts from all over the world came together to discuss innovations in the fields of sustainable materials, earthquake-resistant construction and the circular economy. Particular attention was paid to the importance of resilience in times of climate change and growing urban challenges. Christchurch, shaped by its own post-earthquake reconstruction history, provided an inspiring setting for this forward-looking symposium.
