The Institute of Structural Analysis has been headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Wackerfuß since July 1, 2014.

The research profile of the department is characterized by the development of numerical methods for modelling and simulating material and load-bearing structure behaviour. In the field of teaching, the focus is on classical and modern (computer-oriented) methods of structural analysis.

The MISMO research team, which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the Emmy Noether Program, is affiliated to the Institute of Structural Analysis. The team deals with research into mechanicalinstabilitiesin self-similarmolecularstructures of higher order(abbreviation: MISMO).
