Recognizing and Exploiting Success Potentials of Tomorrow
Product and production process innovations are important levers for ensuring prosperity and employment in the future. Mechanical engineering and related areas, such as automotive industry, are playing a key role today. These sectors likewise demonstrate the relevant success potentials of the future. It is essential to identify these potentials early and to exploit them on time.
Information and communication technology do not just result in an increase of production - but also in the creation of new products and new markets. Our general aim is to increase the innovative strength of industrial companies in the information age. Baring this in mind, we develop methods and procedures on the basis of a 4-Level-Model.

Our key research activities are:
- Strategic Planing and Innovation Management
Basic aim is the analysis of the prod-uct’s requirements for the future market. Basically, it is about anticipating the development of technology and markets, as well as product and business strategies.
- Design Methodology for Mechatronic Systems
This level involves the interdisciplinary design and specification of mechatronic systems, methods for increasing the reliability of such sys-tems as well as development hand books on products that contain new technologies, such as the MID-tech-
nology (Molded Interconnect Devices).
- Production System Planning
The focus lies in the strategic conception of production systems for mechatronic products. This conception is characterized by the interplay of proc-ess planning, place of work planning, production resource planning and production logistics.
- Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Simulation
Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are key technologies of Virtual Prototyping. Furthermore, they facilitate a fast comprehension of products in need of explanation and complex technical systems.
When it comes to implementing these services in practice, the UNITY AG is the first point of contact. More than 150 employees are pleased to assist you. (www.unity.de)
The aim of our seminars is to supply our students with a comprehensive overview of modern industrial companies, in order to highlight the success potentials of the future and to illustrate ways of achieving those potentials. Our students gain the expertise that is necessary for an industrial career of the future.
