| Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Heim Lehrstuhl für Kunststofftechnik, Institut für Werkstofftechnik, Kassel The Plastics Technology Department at the University of Kassel´s Institute of Materials Technology was set up in January 2008 with the appointment of Professor Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Heim. Alongside the Chair in Plastics and Recycling Technology, held by Prof. Dr.-Ing. A. K. Bledzki in this same Institute, which has been working successfully for many years, the topics covered by the Chair in Plastics Technology are now being reorganized so as to supplement Prof. Bedzki’s field of work. The focal areas of research include, on the one hand, the observation of the material properties of plastics - especially functionalized materials and their processing - along with process-induced material and component properties and, on the other hand, the field of plastics process technology and, in particular, new plastics processing methods and process combinations. Professor Bledzki is taking retirement in autumn 2010 and will not be replaced in his post. The areas of activity of the two Chairs will be merged and further developed under Professor Heim.
