Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Volker Schöppner Lehrstuhl für Kunststofftechnologie, Fakultät für Maschinenbau, Paderborn Polymer Engineering Paderborn (KTP) offers in the Department of Mechanical Engineering the field of study Polymer Engineering. Students can graduate both as Bachelor and Master of Engineering. In the subject areas a profound basic education as well as project-related and practical work is ensured. New processes with modern materials are in the focus of research and teaching. For example, engineers work on the modelling of manufacturing processes with modern extruder concepts as well as on the improvement of polymer joining processes. Resource-efficient processes which are suitable for mass production are controlled and optimised at the KTP. Apart from the two professors 21 academic staff members, four laboratory engineers, two technicians and three administrative members work at the KTP. Research projects with public research providers like DFG, AiF or BMBF are completed by joint research projects with industrial companies. Polymer En-gineering Paderborn is equipped with a pilot plant, a joining lab, as well as a rheology and a test lab. At the moment the KTP members establish a transfer of technology centre, the K-Lab. The cooperation with regional polymer companies will be intensified. The link between science and practice at the KTP is the "Verein zur Förderung der Kunststofftechnologie e.V." and the network "Kunststoffe in OWL". In 2009 several professors of the Department of Engineering and the Faculty of Science (chemistry) of the University Paderborn have joint to form a new institute, the "Institute for Polymer Materials and Processes" (PMP). Interdisciplinary knowledge will be used even better in the future. » Back to Who is Who |
