Experience the Institute of Materials Engineering at the University of Kassel in 3D

From additive manufacturing to injection molding, from thermal analysis to scanning electron microscopy and much more: The Institute of Materials Engineering (IfW) at the University of Kassel, which comprises the five disciplines of plastics engineering, metallic materials, mechanical behavior of materials, granularity of materials engineering structural information and extreme light for material structures, is now showing itself and its rooms as a three-dimensional model!

The model offers a video tour of its laboratories and workspaces as well as independent navigation from room to room at the click of a mouse. It is also possible to select the individual rooms directly via quick navigation. Clicking on the numerous research devices and machines used by the Institute's scientists for their work and research opens a window that provides information and images or videos for further explanation.

The 3D model was created by photographer Steffen Böttcher on behalf of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture via HA Hessen Agentur GmbH. It has been published here.

One of the IfW's major goals is to save natural resources by developing innovative and smart materials and to integrate the processed materials into a sustainable circular economy. This reduces their ecological footprint in industry and individually and makes an important contribution to meeting the European Union's target of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
