DIWA
Development of a procedure for the IT-supported generation of a digital heat atlas for rural settlement areas
Funding source
Brief description
The transformation and decarbonization of the heat supply is necessary to achieve the German climate targets. In order to find the optimal transformation strategy for a settlement area, a sufficient data basis in the form of a heat atlas is required. For many rural settlement areas, there is currently no or only insufficient data available. Therefore, an innovative procedure is being developed in the DIWA project, with which the heat atlas for rural settlement areas can be created in a largely automated manner. Consumption data from EAM Netz GmbH and publicly available building data are used for this purpose. Various algorithms are used to reasonably estimate the heat demand even for buildings without consumption data. Thus, heat atlases are generated for all municipalities in the supply area of EAM Netz GmbH. Methods are also being developed to forecast the development of heat demand and the change in energy sources up to 2050. The aim of the project is to provide a sufficient data basis for heat management planning in rural settlement areas.
