Abstract
The emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere is one of the main factors that contributes to the greenhouse effect. For that reason, the German government has targeted ambitiously the reduction of such emissions. Furthermore, gas leakages represent a potential harm for people and capital goods. This motivates the development of remote sensing methods for fast and save gas detection. In this regard, infrared cameras has been used increasingly. However, such devices just provide qualitative information regarding the kind, concentration and size of the gas emission.
The aim of this project is to develop a gascamera-based stereosystem in order to detect and track the 3D shape of a gas cloud by processing and analyzing video sequences of stereoimages.
