Dr. Johannes Scheel, former employee in the Department of Technical Mechanics/Continuum Mechanics, received the silver badge of honour from the German Association for Materials Research and Testing (DVM) "for outstanding technical and scientific achievements in the field of materials research and testing". The award ceremony took place as part of the annual conference of the Fracture Mechanics and Component Safety Working Group on February 20, 2024 in Kassel.

After Andreas Warkentin, research associate in the Department of Engineering Mechanics/Continuum Mechanics, was appointed GAMM Junior by the Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM) in 2022, he took over the office of Chairman of the GAMM Juniors on January 1, 2024 and as such represents the interests of excellent young scientists from the fields of applied mathematics and mechanics.
