C/sells – Das Energiesystem der Zukunft im Sonnenbogen Süddeutschlands
Short description
Demonstration cell Stausebach – flexible district heating network
Within the largescale project C/sells, the Department of Solar and Systems Engineering investigates the flexibilization of district heating network operation. The aim is to enable district heating systems to incorporate multiple fluctuating heat sources and make use of the storage capacity of the pipe network.
In order to evaluate the hydraulic state of the network (pressures, flow directions) under highly dynamic heat inputs at multiple feed-in points, a thermo-hydraulic model for district heating networks is developed. The model is used to simulate various supply and load situations in order to analyse the resulting network conditions. Hereby, the hydraulic integration of fluctuating heat sources and heat storages shall be evaluated, promising network control strategies shall be deduced, and necessary improvements of existing networks shall be identified. Furthermore, new control strategies are developed, in order to make use of the network’s storage capacity that can be made accessible without (high) additional investments. The newly developed control strategies for district heating networks are demonstrated and optimized.
