Fantastic Climates – 15. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Fantastikforschung

We are pleased to invite you to the 15th Annual Conference of the Society for Fantastic Research. The conference will take place under the motto "Fantastic Climates" from 05 to 07 September 2024 in Kassel and is organized in cooperation with the iAG Climate Thinking.
Despite numerous references to the potentially apocalyptic consequences of our actions on planetary ecosystems, social awareness is often not sufficient to make far-reaching changes to our lifestyles.
The climate crisis exceeds any conceivable dimensions and also requires alternative strategies of representation in literary treatment. Areas such as fantasy, horror and science or speculative fiction are instruments for addressing the (as yet) intangible consequences of anthropogenic climate change, imagining future or alternative worlds and using fantastic placeholders to make the unimaginable conceivable.
