ANaPlan Plus
Automated grid expansion planning for the combined assessment of power and gas grids considering hydrogen
The aim of the ANaPlan Plus project was to identify optimization potential in the area of energy grids, considering new degrees of freedom from a cross-divisional and cross-sectoral perspective. The core element is a methodology for integral infrastructure planning to make the adaptation of supply networks for electricity, natural gas, biomethane and hydrogen to complex future scenarios manageable with digital support. In addition to the consideration of grid expansion measures in the individual energy grids, the possibility of decommissioning and reallocation measures was also considered. The open-source tools pandapower and pandapipes, which were jointly developed by Fraunhofer IEE and the University of Kassel, as well as the closed-source tool pandaplan were used and further developed for this purpose.
The work of the University of Kassel focused on expanding the power grid expansion planning developed in the previous ANaPlan project and was intended to supplement it, for example, with the use of GIS-based data or multi-criteria optimization. To this end, an interface to the open-source tool DAVE was developed, which makes open street map data available in grid expansion planning and enables the inclusion of GIS data. The optimization was also expanded to include additional objective functions and the option of multi-criteria optimization based on expansion costs and reliability in the form of the ASIDI value.
The methods and extensions developed in the project were tested and validated on real grid data of the project partners.
