OwnPV-Outlook
PV self-consumption as an efficient, sustainable and robust element of the future energy system
The OwnPV-Outlook project investigated and evaluated the integration and development of PV self-consumption systems in the future energy system. The project evaluated the possible and probable designs of the future framework conditions, the economically exploitable potential and the effects of PV self-consumption systems, considering the current political discussions. The aim was to narrow down this range by determining an energetically and economically efficient and thus sustainable integration of PV self-generated electricity into the energy system, considering the technological innovative power in the various PV applications.
The focus of the e²n department was on the analysis of grid utilization with increased expansion of PV self-consumption systems and the estimation of the resulting grid expansion costs as well as the effects on higher voltage levels. To this end, various behaviors of electric prosumers such as electric vehicles, heat pumps and battery storage systems in PV self-consumption systems were examined. This showed that uniform price incentives can lead to higher grid utilization and thus increase grid expansion costs. By introducing grid-friendly incentives, for example in the form of dynamic grid fees, the additional costs resulting from the use of flexibility could be significantly reduced in some cases.
