Dear German students in the L1, L2 and L3 teaching degree programs,

The following information will help you to plan and conduct your oral or written examination in German as part of the First State Examination.

The Hessian Teachers' Academy and its Kassel Examination Office can also provide you with important information: They are responsible for you and will conduct the First State Examination.

Note

The date for the opening of the Moodle courses for registration for the oral and written exams (or assignment to the German examiners) in spring 2026 will be announced here on February 6, 2025.

Dear students,

For your first state examination in German (LA G, LA HR, LA Gym), you will find initial tips and information here: Here

NEW:

The choice or assignment of examiners for the First State Examination in German will take place via a Moodle course from the fall campaign 2025.

Those who already have confirmations from examiners for fall 2025 will be transferred to the Moodle course. Please check independently whether you are already registered and get in touch with your preferred examiner if you cannot find one.

Please note that, in the interests of fairness, you should cancel your registration yourself as soon as you can foresee that you will not be able to take the exam as planned.

PROCESS of exam registration in the Moodle course:

The course for the oral exams is called "Registration Oral Exam [Fall/Spring] [year]". The course for the written exam is called "Registration for written exam [fall/spring] [year]". The possibility for the first self-registration in both courses for fall 2025 will be activated from October 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., after which you will find courses on Moodle for the next examination periods on an ongoing basis.

If you decide to take a written exam in German, select an examiner.

For the oral exam, you choose two examiners: one examiner for the literature section and one examiner for the language section.

The examiners are selected using the group selection procedure. There is a limited number of exam places per examiner; if your preferred examiner is already occupied, please choose another person with whom there are still free places.

The examination topics will be discussed at a later date in close consultation with your examiners. It will also be discussed in which part of the exam didactic components are included.

If all the places in the desired section are taken, you can register on the "Language waiting list" or "Literature waiting list".

If you meet all the requirements for the examination, you are entitled to take the examination in the desired period, but the Institute of German Studies cannot guarantee you your preferred examiners.

If you have any questions, please contact your mentor.
