Recognition procedure

Career changers

If you have studied at another university in Germany and would like to have your achievements recognized, proceed as follows:

• For teaching degrees: Your contact persons are the colleagues at the Hessian Teachers' Academy. You submit an application for recognition there. Once the application has been processed, you will receive a letter of recognition. This must be submitted to the examination office where your achievements are recorded, at the earliest at the beginning of your semester (beginning of October or beginning of April).

• For Bachelor's or Master's degrees: Recognition takes place at the institutes. Please contact your academic advisor. If necessary, he or she will refer you to a responsible subject representative. Please submit your original transcripts of records with the recognitions to the Examinations Office so that they can be recorded there. This is possible at the earliest at the beginning of your first semester (beginning of October or beginning of April). If you are awarded approx. 30 credits per semester, you can be placed in a higher semester. The Examination Office will issue you with this placement certificate for the Registrar's Office.

• Degree programmes with an economics component: The subject representatives from Faculty 07 are responsible for recognizing credits earned in the field of economics. Please use thisform to document the recognition and submit it to the Examinations Office of Faculty 02, where the credits will be entered in your account.

Change of degree program

If you have studied here in Kassel and would like to change to another degree program:

• For teaching degree programs: Your contact persons are the colleagues at the Hessian Teachers' Academy.You submit an application for recognition there. Once the application has been processed, you will receive a letter of recognition. This must be submitted to the examination office, where your achievements will be recorded. This is possible at the earliest at the beginning of your first semester (beginning of October or beginning of April).

• For Bachelor's or Master's degrees: Contact the Examinations Office straight away. Your credits will be recognized there. In cases of doubt, you will be referred to a student advisor or the relevant subject representative. Recognition will be entered at the earliest at the beginning of the first semester (beginning of October or beginning of April). If you are recognized for approx. 30 credits per semester, you can be classified accordingly higher. The Examination Office will also issue you with this placement certificate for the Registrar's Office.

Semester abroad

If you have completed your semester abroad:

• For teaching degree: Recognition takes place in the institutes with the respective subject representatives. Afterwards, please submit your original transcripts of records with the recognitions to the Examinations Office so that they can be recorded there.

• For Bachelor's and Master's degrees: Recognition takes place in the institutes with the respective subject representatives. Afterwards, please submit your original transcripts of records with the recognitions to the Examinations Office so that they can be recorded there.

• Degree programs with an economics component: The subject representatives from Faculty 07 are responsible for the recognition of credits earned in the field of economics. Please use thisform to document the recognition and submit it to the Examinations Office of Faculty 02, where the credits will be entered in your account.
