Quantitative Methoden / VWL
The unit "Quantitative Methods / Economics" is headed by Apl. Prof. Dr. Rainer Voßkamp. Dr. Stefan Büchele is a lecturer at the unit.
The courses of the unit include the lectures Mathematics for Economics and Macroeconomics as well as further lectures and seminars in the field of Quantitative Methods and Economics. In addition, the unit offers (among other support) pre-courses, bridge courses and a open learning space (MathTreff) in the area of mathematics, which are intended to support the transition from school to university.
The staff of the unit deals with research questions in the fields of economics of education, empirical research in education, didactics of mathematics in higher education as well as economics of innovation and evolutionary economics.
The unit is involved (among others) in the Center for Higher Mathematics Education (Kompetezzentrum Hochschuldidaktik Mathematik). The staff members are members of various professional societies (e.g. Gesellschaft der Dikatik der Mathematik, Verein für Socialpolitik, Ausschuss Evolutorische Ökonomik im VfS, International Schumpter Society).
