First-year students of Business and Human Resource Education (Bachelor) are recommended to attend the pre-course in Mathematics (FB 07 - Wiwi) at the beginning of their studies, regardless of their second subject. If you choose mathematics, physics or chemistry as your second subject, you can additionally attend a pre-course in mathematics of the department 10 before the beginning of the 3rd semester, since the study of the second subject usually starts in the 3rd semester.
The pre-course in mathematics (Wiwi) is not intended for first-year students who are recommended to attend a pre-course in mathematics in Department 10. This applies in particular to first-year students of Industrial Engineering and Management (Bachelor).
Attending the pre-course in mathematics (FB 07 - Wiwi) can be useful for all other first-year students who have to complete the module "Mathematics" of the department 07 or basic modules in economics (e.g. Economics I / Microeconomics) of the department 07 as part of their studies. This applies, for example, to all students of combined degree programs who choose the minor in economics.
On the central pages of the University of Kassel you will find further information in the section Beginning of Studies on the question whether you should take the pre-course in Mathematics (FB 07 - Wiwi) in the department 07 (Economics) or a pre-course in Mathematics in the Department 10 (Mathematics and Natural Sciences).
If you are unsure, please contact Apl. Prof. Dr. Rainer Voßkamp (FB 07) or Ms. Nina Gusman (FB 10).
The pre-course will take place from 23.09.24 (Mon) to 11.10.24 (Fri). The exact dates will be published on this website in July.
The responsible lecturer for the pre-course in mathematics (FB 07 - Wiwi) is Apl. Prof. Dr. Rainer Voßkamp. If you have any questions, please send him an e-mail.
The pre-course includes
- a lecture (probably eleven sessions with four lessons of 45 min each) and

It is planned that the lecture and tutorials will take place in attendance mode. The lecture and tutorials will take place on the campus "Holländischer Platz (Hopla)".
For a participation in the pre-course an Uni-Account is necessary! Instructions on how to apply for your Uni-Account can be found here. Please note that you need your final matriculation number to apply for your account. If you don't have an account yet or it is still in process, you can also join the pre-course later. You can find more information about this further down on this website.
