Collaborative Research Center 1319 ELCH

Extreme light for sensing and driving molecular chirality (ELCH)

The first four-year funding period of the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1319 ELCH of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) started with this title on 1st January 2018 at the University of Kassel and three other research locations in Germany.

The CRC 1319 ELCH was set up at the University of Kassel being the main applicant for the funding with partners at the Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main, the Philipps-Universität in Marburg and the Deutsche Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY in Hamburg. Altogether, there are 10 research groups hosting 15 scientific research projects and one administration project. Seven groups will be carrying out research at the University of Kassel and there is one research group at each partner-University.

The CRC 1319 ELCH is a follow up of the very successful earlier research collaboration „Electron Dynamics of the Chiral Systems” with the same acronym ELCH but with a different focus. The previous ELCH project was funded within the Hesse excellence initiative LOEWE (Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung Wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz) between 2013 and 2016.
