“Market analysis for organic aquacultural products”

Research project within the scope of the Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture

http://www.bundesprogramm-oekolandbau.de

For years aquaculture has been a growing part of the global fish economy. The German organic aquacultural market is manageable, but in medium term there is a strong potential of expansion. There is little known about the actors of this still young market. That is why the goal of the research project will create a market transparency. Furthermore, the whole supply chain from feedstuff production, fish producers and processors to seafood mongers is object of research for a detailed market analysis. This should put a valid evaluation of market elements and the market situation at the disposal of market participants. The research project results should inform all market actors to allow for a better strategy for production, purchase and sale activities in the organic aquacultural market. For conventional producers who want to change over to organic production and advisory departments, this research project should promote decision making.
