Research colloquium: "Theory and numerics of the FE² method"

As part of the research colloquium for final theses, doctoral and postdoctoral students, we cordially invite you on

Wednesday, 17.07.2024, at 14:00 in room 3516 (Mönchebergstr. 7).

Mr. Julian Ochs M.Sc. will give a lecture with the title

"Theory and numerics of the FE2 method"

will present the current state of his research at the Department of Structural Analysis.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Abstract

This lecture deals with the concept of homogenization and the FE² method. Homogenization is a process to derive macroscopic properties from microscopic structures and meets the challenge of complex material behavior in engineering applications. The lecture will examine the basic principles of homogenization and show how they effectively bridge the gap between micro- and macroscale. The numerical implementation is carried out using the FE² method. The lecture deals with the theoretical principles, the practical implementation and the areas of application of the FE² method.
