Large-scale model tests up to a scale of 1:1 are possible in the experimental halls of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering.

Model tests serve for example:

• To test the suitability of new building materials,
• To test the suitability of new construction methods,
• The calibration of numerical models.

For example, research projects have been carried out so far within the framework of research and development contracts, which, for example, related to the deformation behaviour of roadway systems or the composite behaviour of various steel profiles encased in concrete have already been investigated here.
In addition, many other R+D projects have been worked on.
