FAQ - Microsoft Campus
Please follow the instructions for resetting the password.
Please note that it may take up to two hours before you receive the e-mail with the start password.
You will receive the e-mail to your student e-mail address, not to your private e-mail address.
If you have not received an e-mail, you may have already applied for a Microsoft account in the past. Please follow the steps for resetting your password first. If the password reset is not possible, please write an e-mail to < ms-portal[at]uni-kassel[dot]de > with your user ID and your preferred e-mail address.
No, it is only possible to use the Microsoft account created via the Microsoft campus license as long as the account used for the application has either a matriculation number or a (non-fictional) personnel number.
This means that the right of use expires directly on the date of exmatriculation/at the end of the employment contract! Even if the UniAccount itself can still be used for a further 30 days, the benefits of the Microsoft campus contract can no longer be used.
Please also note the information on the use of Windows Education licenses. Otherwise you risk a real loss of data, which neither the ITS nor Microsoft can remedy!
Unfortunately, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, OneNote and Skype for Business cannot be used via the campus license for data protection reasons.
Data protection-compliant alternatives include the chat software Rocket.Chat, the cloud meeting platform Zoom or the cloud storage solution Hessenbox.
The installation of an Office Professional Plus downgrade (Office 2016, 2019) of the licensed Office 365 is only possible on one physical, business end device per licensed user. When using a permanently installed and a mobile device (notebook) individually, it must therefore be decided in advance on which device the downgrade option is to be used. This option is not available to students.
The installation of an Office Professional Plus downgrade (Office 2016, 2019) of the licensed Office 365 in freely accessible rooms (e.g. pool rooms) or libraries within the university is possible. This does not apply to virtual pool rooms (or other virtual machines).
The use of the online apps on < portal.office.com > is not permitted for data protection reasons.
Please download the desktop versions of the apps instead.
The Microsoft Appstore is deactivated if you are logged in via the Microsoft campus license. Add-ons/plugins can be downloaded and installed manually from the internet if you have administrative permissions on your device.
Log out of your Microsoft account and log in again several times. The error message should disappear.
If the error message continues to appear, please contact < lizenzmanagement[at]uni-kassel[dot]de > from your UniAccount e-mail address with a screenshot of the error message.
Office365 currently only supports MacOS versions 12, 13 and 14. Unfortunately, the installation on older operating system versions cannot be supported by the university.
If you receive this or a similar error message, please first check whether you are connected to the internet. An internet connection is required to log in.
If you are connected to the internet, click on "Done". The login should then work.
If you are still unable to log in, please send an e-mail to < ms-portal[at]uni-kassel[dot]de > with your user ID and your preferred e-mail address.
